We inform you that the Italian railway transport system, particularly to and from ports, is currently facing an exceptionally challenging situation due to recent events that have significantly impacted rail transport in recent months.
Strikes, train accidents, and the system-wide shutdown on Friday, July 19th, have led to a widespread suspension of railway services, resulting in significant delays and disruptions to freight movement.
Additionally, the Port of Genoa area is currently experiencing a severe limitation of its railway capacity due to extensive network interventions, largely related to the works planned under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). Specifically, starting from the end of July, many carriers are suspending railway connections in the Fast Corridor to inland terminals in order to clear the backlog, and during the central week of August, there will be a 100% conversion from rail to truck services for the entire Genoa basin.
In light of these exceptional and unforeseen events, existing costs and routings may be subject to change due to the need to respond promptly to this new situation.
Our teams are continuously working to monitor developments in rail transport and find alternative solutions to ensure the arrival and departure of goods in transit.
We thank you for your understanding and remain at your disposal for any further clarification.
