For a fifth consecutive year, Shanghai has been the world’s busiest container port, with the gap widening against its biggest competitor, the port of Singapore, with 33.9 million 20ft containers handled by Singapore in 2014 and about 35.2 processed by Shanghai port.
According to Container Trade Statistics, global containerized trade reached 124 million boxes in the first 11 months of 2014, a 4.3% increase on the 118.9 million of the previous year.
